Open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
HIGHLANDS – The Food Pantry at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church remains open its regular days and happy to distribute food to those in need.
Tricia Curtin, who is chairman of the Pantry with her husband, Dan, said the Pantry remains open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
While no one is permitted in the building following Covid-19 regulations, Curtin said the procedure for receiving a bag of groceries remains easy and convenient.
Since the pantry receives new supplies each week, visitors on Sundays and Mondays are asked to go to the side door facing Miller St. near the main entrance at the front of church. Volunteers will then come out and give customers a form to fill out, itemizing what is available that week. Once customers fill out their wish, a volunteer will retrieve and package all the requested items and bring the shopping bag back outside.
“It’s that simple, and there are many people in need,” Curtin said. But, she added, “there are also so very many generous people around so we are able to keep our doors open and help out.”
Curtin also praised Councilwoman Rosemary Ryan who has put out her own request for assistance for the pantry and in return has received numerous donations at her home. Curtin thanked everyone who has made those donations and said she will continue to make pick-ups whenever notified by Ryan.
The Pantry volunteers also make deliveries of food packages to Ptak Towers, the over 55 residence in the borough.
Persons wishing to make monetary donations to the Pantry can make checks about to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Pantry and mail them in care of Curtin to her home at 76 Bayside Dr., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
