LINCROFT, NJ - As a result of a 9-1-1 call at 2:33 pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to extricate an unconscious worker who was thirty feet inside the home’s basement crawlspace at 58 Greentree Terrace in the Lincroft section of the Township.

Initial dispatch was increased to include the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) Special Services Unit.  Upon arrival Chief Steve Schweizer coordinated fire department response Middletown Township Police, The Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corporation paramedics (MONOC) and immediately assessed the scene situation and developed the plan to remove the worker from the structure. Initial scene safety efforts included testing the air quality, safe access to victim, ventilation, patient assessment then develop a safe removal plan and then execute that plan.  Utilizing tools from the Tower Ladder the victim was transferred into a stokes basket and pulled from the confined space. The victim was then treated on scene.

The assignment was completed under control by Chief Steve Schweizer at 3:00 p.m.  All units were cleared from the scene at 3:22 p.m.

Approximately 15 members from two companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from River Plaza and Lincroft Fire Companies. The MTFD Special Services Unit responded.

No firefighter injuries were reported while operating at the scene.
