ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Elder William Reyes of Bradley Beach will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at the First Presbyterians Church.
The title of his sermon is "Have You Been Called?", which is based on 1 Samuel 3:1-10.
Reyes was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City a age 17. He is married to the Reverend Carmen M, Rosario, an ordained minister and pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Reyes holds an associate degree in human services, a bachelor of science degrees in human services and a master of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He worked as an assistant psychiatric social worker, and as youth division counselor in the capacity of juvenile parole worker with the state of New York for 32 years.
He is a member of the Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana Hispana Principe de Paz (Prince of Peace First Hispanic Presbyterian Church), a charter church of PCUSA in Cliffwood Beach, a ruling elder Elder; Candidate on the care of the Committee on Preparation for Ministry of the Presbytery of Monmouth. Three years (1998-2002) certificate from the Institute for the Preparation of Commissioned Lay Pastors of the Hispanic Leadership Development Program of Princeton Theological Seminary. Served in various ministries: clerk of session; commissioner of Monmouth Presbytery in the Synod of the Northeast; Moderator of the Stewardship and Communications Committee of the Synod of the Northeast; member of the Committee on Social Witness of the Northeast Synod; member of the National Presbyterian Committee on the Self Development of People; secretary, vice-moderator, moderator, and historian of the Hispanic Latino Presbyterian Caucus of the Synod of the Northeast; Sunday School Teacher, and Preacher -in Spanish and English- as well as pastoral care advocacy in social justice among other church ministries experience.
The Rev. Fred Whitehead will preach at the church next Sunday, Jan. 21.
