ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The JO-LYN IV was removed Saturday morning from the Seastreak pier in Atlantic Highlands where it was beached March 21st.
The Mayor and Council was informed at their meeting April 27 by Borough Administrator Adam Hubeny that the Harbor Commission had received 3 bids for the removal of the 38 foot wooden boat - the lowest of which was from Red Bank Recycling at $3400. The removal was paid for out of the Harbor operating budget, according to Hubeny.
The boat was broken into pieces by the claws of the demolition rig. The pieces filled two highboy dumpsters, according to Hubeny. Each highboy has a capacity to carry 40 yards of waste.
Mr. Hubeny said the boat owner, Peter Welchman of Spring, Texas will receive the bill for the boat removal.
