Let me introduce myself. My name is Lou Fligor and I am running in the Primary to be your 2015 Candidate for Mayor.
I am 54 years old and live with my wife of 30 years Cindy, and our daughters Jennifer & Kallie. My family has been inAtlantic Highlands for four generations. I am a small business owner in town and co-own ‘Salon At 68’ with my wife Cindy.
I also work for the Kessler Ellis Products Company in Eatontown, N.J. and have worked at KEP for 28 years where I am a Sr. Applications Engineer for the Flow Products division of my company. I am also an ISO-9001 Auditor for my company. I feel my experience in business and owning my own business makes me a great candidate for the Office of Mayor. I have a strong work ethic and believe everyone should volunteer and take pride in their community.
Since being elected in 2001, I have served the town as a vigorous, involved, hands on member of the Atlantic Highlands Borough Council. I have also served on or chaired many of the committees and boards that created the policies for the betterment of our community.
Being born and raised in Atlantic Highlands I have seen our town go through many changes. I am proud to say that I and my fellow council members took part in many of those changes. I want our home to be a community where all generations, both new and lifelong, can live and work together.
I am looking to move the town in a direction that best serves all citizens in Atlantic Highlands. We have a robust senior population; a growing community of young families and they each have unique needs from our town. My job will be to reach out to them, listen to what they need and align our priorities to meet them.
The title of Mayor is not a ceremonial title; it represents leadership earned from active participation in our community. If elected as your Mayor, I pledge to continue the tradition of collaborative participation and hands-on engagement with results. After listening to you while I walk door to door, I am bringing forward some ideas for our future.
I plan to unite the businesses on First Avenue to the Harbor. Lets invite SeaStreak to bring visitors from NYC to come and explore everything that is Atlantic Highlands. We have art, history, shopping and it’s a food connoisseur’s paradise.
Let’s work together to encourage new businesses to make Atlantic Highlands their home. I would like to continue to research what other small towns are doing to centralize this idea. As an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, promoting small business success is a “win win” for everyone.
Lastly, I would like to launch ‘Atlantic Highlands Day 2016’. It would celebrate our authentic character, cultural gems and breathtaking scenery on one summer day. In turn, this event will bring families both in town and throughout the community together to appreciate our town’s beauty and historical charm.
In closing, I encourage you to exercise your right to vote in the June 2nd Primary.
Remember, your vote counts!
