ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Rhonda C. LeGrice has been elected Democratic municipal chairman, succeeding former Mayor Peter E. Donoghue.
LeGrice was unanimously elected Feb. 17 by the eight-member Democratic municipal executive committee. She has lived in the borough since 1989, is a lifelong Democrat and is a Democratic district committeewoman.
During her 32 years as an American Airlines flight attendant, she was an active member of her union, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA).
LeGrice, known as Randi, has been involved in community affairs for many years. She has served as a Cub Scout leader, a member of the Atlantic Highlands Elementary School PTO and the Mothers Club at Christian Brothers Academy.
She is a founding member of the Friends of the Atlantic Highlands Library and is currently its vice president. Since 2005, she has facilitated the Book Lovers Discussion Group for the Friends of the Library.
LeGrice has been a member and volunteer for the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council since its inception in 2005. She heads the hospitality committee for its annual FilmOneFest and has participated in fund-raising events for the festival.
In the past, she has helped research Sears Homes for the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society and continues to volunteer as a guide for its house tours.
She attends the United Methodist Church of Atlantic Highlands, where she has served on various committees.
Le Grice lives at 84 South Ave. with her husband, Stephen. Their son, James, lives in London.
Donoghue served as chairman for several years.
