ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS --  The Rev. Barbara A. Macfie will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at the First Presbyterian Church. She will also administer the monthly Holy Communion.
Her sermon is entitled "Seeing God Clearly" and is based on Psalm 111.

"John Calvin once said that scripture is like a pair of spectacles that enable us to properly interpret what we see in creation," according to Macfie. "With that in mind, we'll look at Psalm 111 to gain insight as to how we can read and understand scripture so that it is a guide for our daily lives.

"Our spiritual sight gives us insight into how we can be examples of Godly living to the world," she said.  "While some people look at things the way they are and don't question why,  and others dream of things that never were and ask why not, our vision questions the way things are and tries to make a reality of the things that never were.

MacFie is an ordained Presbyterian minister and a counselor in private practice in Metuchen.

The Rev. Michael Riley will return to the pulpit next week. The weekly Bible study, conducted by Riley, former pastor and an Asbury Park Press columnist, is held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday and is open to the public.
The  123-year-old, handicapped accessible church at Third and E. Highland Aves. has extra parking available in a new municipal lot next to the Christian Education Building on East Highland Avenue.
Child care for four-year-olds and younger continues to be provided during each worship service.
