MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Walk the Walk with Kevin Kret and celebrate his life was on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Over 100 families came to celebrate Kevin’s life and enjoyed a mini carnival with moon bounce, hot dogs, Ralph’s Italian ice, face painting, and sand art which had been generously donated. Special guests included Drop Global Skate board team who generously raffled a custom Skateboard and helmet and sold Kevin Kret skateboard shirts. Dr. Phillip Defina, Chief Executive Officer/Chief Scientific Officer of International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) and Dr Jonathan Fellus, Chief Medical Officer were there to discuss Kevin’s improvements and treatment with IBRF. Since Kevin’s skateboard accident, July 31, 2009, Kevin has been home in a minimally conscious state and has been participating in experimental research with IBRF for the past 3 years. Kevin’s Parents, Michael and Joan, demonstrated the recent accomplishment of Kevin’s ability to communicate. Michael was able to ask Kevin “Yes” or “No” questions and Kevin would respond by touching his nose or head. There was not a dry eye as the demonstration continued.
Nicole Ardito, chairperson, Victoria Gemignani, co-chair and their volunteers raised over $20,000 towards Kevin’s treatment with IBRF and for Kevin’s Journey of Hope, which offsets medical needs and equipment. The Kret’s are looking to purchase a new device for Kevin called an RT300, which will help continue to strengthen Kevin muscles.
If you would like to support Kevin, please send donations to Kevin Kret, 27 Southview Terrace Middletown, NJ 07748. Checks payable to “Kevin’s Journey of Hope” to offset Kevin’s medical expenses or IBRF (a 501 (c)(3) for brain research towards new treatments that can benefit Kevin and others with brain injuries.
