MIDDLETOWN, NJ - At 3:53 PM on Friday April 13, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to the corner of Ueland Road and Melissa Lane for a report of an unknown type of fire inside of a house at that location.  Approximately 25 firefighters from 4 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department (River Plaza, Middletown, Lincroft and Old Village Fire Companies), under the command of Deputy Chief John D’Altilio, responded to the scene.  The firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions in the kitchen and laundry room of a 2 story residential structure at 11 Melissa Lane.  Assistant Chief Pete Laimann coordinated the extinguishment efforts and declared the fire under control within 30 minutes.  Also assisting at the scene were the MTFD Air Unit, MTFD Fire Police, and Middletown Township EMS units. 


There were no residents in the structure at the time of the fire.  The house sustained major fire and smoke damage.


There were no reported injuries.


The cause fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau.
