After a long and successful run at Julia's Restaurant, the Open Mic is moving to an exciting new venue 'On The Deck' overlooking the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor at 10 Simon Lake Drive. Enjoy an eclectic mix of music, poetry and more as the area's very best artists test new material and polish old favorites in the friendly, welcoming environment of this free open mic on the second Tuesday of every month.
September 13, the featured performer is Poppa John 'Bug.' Once a member of Richie Haven's "Fresh Flavor" and a professional electric bass player since 1973, Poppa John "Bug" has played with Alexis Korner, Ed Lord, and many of the finest musicians in New York and London; he calls Richie Havens a major influence.
The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council invites musicians, artists, performers, and all who love good original live performance to share the fun “Live On The Deck", adjacent to the ferry landing, with spectacular views of the Shrewsbury River, Gateway National Park and the New York City skyline.
Artists and performers sign up beginning at 7:00 pm, the performance starts at 7:30 pm.
Refreshments are available to purchase from an extensive menu, including a wide variety of beer, wine and spirits. Tax-deductible donations to the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council are welcome, and are shared with the featured performer..
