The current swatting events have caused concern for many residents. Let me give you some facts regarding this swatting situation. First, swatting is a nation-wide epidemic. New Jersey is just one of the states being victimized, but there have been numerous incidents in Washington, Ohio, Arizona, New York, and as far away as Alaska to name only a few.

New Jersey has had over 50 swatting calls in 2015 alone.

Our local Law Enforcement have been working with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office AND the FBI since the FIRST swatting call was received.

We are fully aware that the calls coming into Holmdel have been limited to our schools, and until today have all occurred on Tuesdays.
Police presence will be more visible at all schools. And, the Township will continue to work in cooperation with school officials to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

We ask all of you to remain vigilant, and trust that YOUR safety, and the safety of those you love, is of paramount importance to all of us, and will not be compromised.

Although this a very sensitive and frustrating time, we ask that you use good judgment and try to minimize social media hype and unverified information.

I thank you for your time and look forward to your continued cooperation as we strive to end this current problem.
