Historian Tom Clark Speaks
April 27 @ 7:00 pm
MANALAPAN – Historian Tom Clark, author of “Undiminished Violence,” will be featured by the Monmouth County Library in a Zoom presentation on Tuesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. The book tells the story of the John Minturn Storm of 1846, a hurricane that arrived in February and pounded the east coast from the Carolinas to Maine, with New Jersey receiving the brunt of the fierce nature attack. Nine vessels were thrown upon the shore and scores of deaths were recorded, claiming countless lives and nine vessels. Cook narrates the unfortunate circumstances and poor decision-making that gave the storm its name. The author spent his childhood and youth surfing the Atlantic ocean and always shown an interest in what was down below the surface. The author of five books, Clark, is a Trustee on his Library’s Friends Board and on Maryland Writers’ Association. He has also started and managed numerous book clubs, and is currently CFO for Georgetown Law School. All Library programs and concerts are protected by copyright law; recording in any manner, without written presenter permission, is strictly prohibited.
