Cedar View Cemetery: How Community Partnership Revealed an Historic Lincroft Burial Ground

Presented by Joelle Zabotka, Ph.D., LCSW, LCADC

The land for Cedar View Cemetery, located in the Lincroft section of Middletown, was sold to 14 black men in 1850 “to be used as a burying ground.” The wooded cemetery is now the final resting place for a number of locals, including Civil War veterans. Learn about the history of this cemetery, and how the community came together to restore it within the last decade.

Joelle Zabotka is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Monmouth University, where her research focuses on biological mothers’ experiences with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, parenting, and clinical topics in Social Work. She is also the author of a number of scholarly articles and presentations.
