You could tell from the previews that "Another Year" would be one of those films would be a character study of the actors and a focus on relationships.
That is exactly what it was. A slowly evolving story thru the 4 seasons of one year about the strong, long time married couple played well known actor Jim Broadbent and unknown but fabulous Ruth Sheen that have this fabulous marriage along with a together son.
Yet at the same time, they are surrounded by friends and family that seem always surrounded by a black cloud with lots personal problems. Yet this couple (Tom and Gerri) and son Joe are wonderfully supportive friends on many levels while keeping their own family relationships exceedingly healthy.
Simply a most enjoyable film to watch and maybe even believable. Little over 2 hours long so you might need a little nap before but very, very good film making
