Just who is Mighty Max Low?
Mighty Max Low is a twelve year old boy from Neola, Iowa. Max has been battling leukemia for six years, and he has a unique wish that we can all help him with. Max hopes to receive one million get well cards.
According to www.Iowastatedaily.com, Max was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004. Earlier this year, he received a bone marrow transplant from his father at Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, and is reportedly doing well. We can all join forces to help him do even better.
Though Max's request is on a facebook page a friend began for him, I first heard of the child's wish via Mary Mother of God's Sunday church bulletin. Thank you, St. Marys, for alerting the local community to this opportunity to bring good will to another in need. If anyone reading this column is a teacher, a scout leader, or a member of a parish other than St. Marys, please rally your church or your organization to join the nation-wide campaign to deliver one million get well cards to Max Low. To date, hundreds of thousands of cards have streamed into Max's post office box in Iowa. Let's send him more!
From time to time, people comment on the dangers of the internet and social networking. Here is a chance to utilize the internet to reach out and favorably touch the life of another. Please join me in helping Max achieve his goal of one million cards, and along with each card you send, please bow your head in prayer and ask the good Lord to shine His healing light upon this child (and all children) in need.
