MANALAPAN – Monmouth County Commissioner and historian Lilian Burry will present a program on historic sites in Colts Neck Friday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. sponsored by the Monmouth County Library.
Burry, a Monmouth County Freeholder/commissioner since 2005, former Mayor of Colts Neck and liaison from the Board of Commissioners to the Monmouth County Historical Commission graduated cum laude from Wagner College with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history. She was elected to the National History Fraternity and in 2005 was granted the Wagner College Fellow in Political Science. A native of New York City, she and her husband Don moved to Colts Neck from Matawan many years ago where she continues to make her mark on historic preservation and open space conservation.
Her talk on Friday focuses on the 13 historic sites in Colts Neck which are identified by plaques and are all described in detail in her book on the township, A Tour of Historic Coots Neck, designed as a guide for tourists to visit and learn some of the township’s history.
The program will be live and presented virtually at no cost. Registration is required and available at the library’s website, www.MonmouthCountyLib.org under the Upcoming Events link. Deadline for registration is Thursday, April 29 at noon, and the link will be e-mailed between 3 and 4 p.m. that day for the next day’s presentation.
