COLTS NECK – Renowned musicians Marjorie Koharski and Keith Calmes will present a flute and guitar concert at the Colts Neck Library on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. The library is located at 1 Winthrop Drive in the township municipal complex.
Koharski, a former faculty member with the Monmouth Conservatory of Music, is a retired flutist with the Monmouth County Symphony Orchestra and a flutist with the Elysion Winds Quintet. She is a member of the New York Flute Club and the National and New Jersey Flute societies. She has performed with flute orchestras throughout the United States. Koharski earned her degrees from the State University of Pennsylvania and Monmouth University, and has studied music education at the University of New Mexico. She her performed in Master Classes with James Galway and others. She is founder and director of The Festive Flutes, a flute choir who perform light classical and show tunes.
Calmes, an educator, composer and author, had a recital debut at Carnegie Hall, and has played concerto with the Monmouth Symphony and performed with Carlos Barbos-Lima. He holds degrees in classical guitar performance from California State University, the Juilliard School and the University of Southern California, is an American guitarist, educator, composer, and author. Mr. Calmes has earned degrees in Classical Guitar Performance from California State University, Northridge, the Juilliard School, and the University of Southern California. He has performed at the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York, the chapel of the United Nations, the Pentagon, EPA Headquarters, Busch Gardens, the Guitar Foundation of America and other sites. Identified as a classical master, he holds the Outstanding Teacher Award from the College of New Jersey.
