LINCROFT, NJ - Marking the conclusion of their thirty-second season, Pegasus Production Company presents the beloved musical Fiddler on the Roof at the Henderson Theatre on the Christian Brothers Academy campus. Originally produced on Broadway by Harold Prince and revived on the Great White Way five times since, the classic theatrical staple features a book by Joseph Stein and music and lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness. With iconic and beloved songs such as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Tradition,” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.
Performances will take place on March 2, 3, 9, and 10 at 7:00 pm, March 4 at 2:00 pm, and March 8 at 5:00 pm at the Henderson Theatre on the Christian Brothers Academy campus at 850 Newman Springs Road, in Lincroft, NJ. The March 9 show will be a sensory-friendly performance geared toward individuals with autism and their families; half of all ticket proceeds on March 9 will be donated to Our Special Place, a Matawan non-profit organization that assists children with special needs.
