COLTS NECK, NJ = The rains in New Jersey did not stop the Kentucky Derby, nor did it stop the people of Monmouth County and Colts Neck from attending the Colts Neck Lions’ Club Kentucky Derby Wine Tasting Fundraiser. Back after three years, the club held a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a derby hat contest. Ms. Kelly Powers won and her hat sure delighted all who passed by it. This year, the food was supplied by Gregor’s BBQ, Highway to Ohana and the Greenmarket Wagon and it was a great way to meander through the crowds. We would also like to thank our 23 sponsors who supported our event and continue to support the Colts Neck Lion’s Club and the community.
This year, the funds raised will help fund a service dog for a local veteran through the AUSA and the club will be hosting another BEEP Baseball tournament this summer with the monies raised. BEEP Baseball is for the visually impaired and the last two years of tournaments have been a true delight to be a part of.
We had ample tastings of wine, beer, bourbon, and Garden State Distillery and Tito’s and Lairds also shared some of their festive drinks for the day. The Club raised over $10,000 and is looking forward to another wonderful event next year. If you are interested in joining, or for more information, please reach out to: https://www.coltsnecklionsclub.us
The Club meets the third Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at Huddy’s.
