FREEHOLD – A multi-vehicle collision in Howell has claimed the life of one male driver early Friday morning, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
On Friday March 11, 2022, at approximately 12:05 a.m., a 2004 Ford F150 pickup, driven by a male driver of Jackson, was travelling westbound on Route 33, just west of Colts Neck Road crossing the intersection, when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 2004 Kia Rio, sideswiping the vehicle. The pickup then continued westbound, again in the eastbound lanes and collided in an offset head on with a second vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Challenger, operated by a male driver, of Neptune Township.
As a result of the second collision, the driver of the Challenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pickup overturned and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
The female driver of the Kia Rio was uninjured in the crash. None of the drivers had any passengers in their vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County SCART and Howell Township Police Department.
