Monmouth County Public Library Headquarters

MANALAPAN – The Monmouth County library is looking for teenage volunteers who like to read.

The library is in need of book reviewers for books suitable for both boys and girls in grades 7 through 12. The program is offered as a community service credit product for volunteers who read a teen novel and write a brief review of it.

Students must be in one of grades 7 through 12, must have a valid Monmouth County Library card, and can select their own books to review at the appropriate reading level. Books can be checked out from the library, either virtually or in person.

Written reviews must include a paragraph summarizing the book, and a second paragraph giving a critical evaluation of it and why the reader specifically critiques it in that manner, either positively or negatively.

Once a review is submitted, it will be approved by staff and the review will become part of the review website. Service hour credits will be issued once the review is approved by a library staff member.
