HIGHLANDS – The Girls Café, Bay and Washington avenues, will be open Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be closed for the holiday week beginning Dec. 25.

The restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and takeouts from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., will  also be closed for the month of January, returning Feb. 1 to their full five day a week service, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“But look for what will be happening before Christmas,” an elated Cathy Hartsgrove, one of the owners with her sister, Vera, said, “Our Mikey has promised u a Christmas décor like we’ve never seen before.” Mikey  is Michael Mullins, a friend of the Hartsgroves who has earned a reputation for himself as well as the restaurant for the unique and spellbinding decorations he has created since the Girls Café initiated outdoor dining to compensate for mandated Covid restrictions throughout the year. “Christmas is a special time for all f us, for families, for friends, and of course for our customers, so Mikey told us to look forward to seeing something special for everyone to enjoy.”

The restaurant’s chief chef, Charlie Hickey, who has been working with the restaurant owners for more than ten years and has been a popular chef from Keyport to Highlands for many more years, will also be at the grill throughout the days until Christmas and looking forward to a January vacation.
