RED BANK, NJ – The League of Women Voters of Greater Red Bank regrets to announce that the previous planned virtual candidate’s forum for the Atlantic Highlands Borough Candidates (scheduled for Monday, October 18) has been cancelled.  The Republican candidates recently informed us that they decided not to participate in the forum.  Shortly thereafter, the Independent candidates decided to also pull out of the forum.  Left with only one party, the Democratic Party, which was willing to participate in the forum, the League had no choice but to cancel the forum.  Our rules of non-partisanship prevent us from holding an “Empty Chair” forum where only one party or slate is represented.

The League of Women Voters was established 100 years ago by helping to pass the 19th amendment. It is a non-partisan, activist, grassroots organization that believes voters should play a critical role in democracy.

It is known for its professionalism and non-partisan reputation of conducting fair and decorous candidates’ forums for over 50 years.
