HIGHLANDS – Six persons, including former Mayor Richard W. O’Neil, are running for the two seats open on the Borough Council in the November election. Both terms are for three years.

Neither Councilmember Linda Mazzola nor JL Martin is seeking another term. Mazzola had announced that last month, but Martin never indicated whether he would seek his first full term after winning an unexpired term last year.

Besides O’Neil, the five others seeking election are Michael J. Warren, Melissa Cavaluzzi, Leo Cervantes, Karen Chelak and Melanie Henley Heyn.

Warren, who ran last year and is quartermaster for the local VFW Post 6902, and O’Neil are running as a team under the tag line, “Residents First.”
