Ocean, NJ – For the 4th year, the Monmouth County League of Women Voters is helping voters make informed choices through VOTE411, the League’s national, non-partisan on-line voters’ guide. League volunteers will be reaching out to candidates in every competitive local race in Monmouth County to urge their participation beginning in September. Over a dozen Ocean County races will also be included this year for the first time.
VOTE411 provides comprehensive information about voting, including candidate profiles, from the top of the ticket down to municipal council and Board of Education races. The site won the 2020 Webby Award for Government Innovation and has been seen by over 35 million voters nationwide.
“What makes VOTE411 unique is the local focus,” said Anne Torre, Monmouth VOTE411 team leader. “In Monmouth and Ocean Counties, we have 30 volunteers who have adopted local races and are encouraging candidates to post their responses to our questions on the website.”
The online guide will be especially useful to both candidates and voters in the 2021 election, given that early voting options are intensifying the campaign season, while in-person voter contact may still be limited by COVID concerns.
“We are recommending that candidates upload their responses as soon as possible, because mail ballots begin going out to voters in late September and early in-person voting, new this year, starts on October 23rd,” Ms. Torre explained.
