HIGHLANDS – In the face of the possible storm, a full moon and an early morning high tide, The Girl’s Café will not offer indoor or outdoor dining this Sunday, Aug. 22, due to the oncoming Storm Henri.

“Our Take-out window will be open, and Charley our chef and our whole crew will be here to prepare breakfast and lunches for take-out,” said Cathy Hartsgrove, owner with her sister Vera Rotsma of the popular breakfast and lunch spot on Bay and Washington venues  “It’s just that we want to protect the neighborhood from any flying objects.”

Saturday, the sisters took down all the umbrellas and tables and chairs from their outdoor dining area, a popular dining area which began when Covid forced the minimalization of indoor dining at the small café. With regular closings on Monday and Tuesday, outdoor dining will be curtailed until Wednesday, Hartsgrove said.

The Take-out window and service will be available from 6 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m., the owner said, and residents are also urged  to consider sandwiches for later dining at home should electricity go out because of strong winds.
