Lunch Break thanks its Community Day sponsors, as well as corporate and business partners and community members who generously contributed hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies for our children in need. More than 700 children received backpacks through community donations in 2020.
Lunch Break provides food, clothing, fellowship and life skills to hundreds of individuals and families living at or below the poverty line, free of charge. The Life Skills Center offers employment coaching, skills training and financial counseling to registered participants, in an effort to equip them with the necessary tools for self-sufficiency. In New Jersey, more than 865, people, including 260,340 children, are food insecure, according to a 2021 Feeding America and Hunger Free New Jersey report. That means 1 in 10 individuals (9.6 percent) and 1 in 8 children (13.2 percent) live in homes without consistent access to basic necessities, namely food.
