One of the country’s most popular Celtic bands will bring its high-energy brand of music to the WPC Great Lawn on Friday, August 6th at 7:30 PM.  For twenty-five years, Blackwater has been performing for audiences across North America from sessions and pubs to concert halls and festival stages. Formed in 1996, the group has released several albums, appeared on multiple compilations and brought their inspired love of their shared musical heritage to an ever-growing fan base.  The band’s members have a rich tradition in Celtic, Folk, Classical and Contemporary Music and have successfully merged those individual influences into a unique and dynamic sound.

Blackwater Outdoor Concert Will Benefit Westminster Church’s Community Outreach 3

According to Blackwater founder Sean P. Hennessy, who is also a frequent and favorite Sunday soloist at WPC,” We’re really excited not only to be taking the stage for our very first concert in over 18 months but to be doing it in support of the lovely people at Westminster Presbyterian Church.  All the proceeds from the show will be going to support their many outreach and community support programs that have been so taxed during these difficult times.  We’re asking our loyal legion of fans to spread the word!”

Erika Sayar, WPC’s Director of Music who has collaborated with Sean for years at Worship Service was delighted when he offered to have Blackwater perform this benefit concert. “This is going to be an amazing night of music under the stars and we are humbled and thrilled to be hosting Sean and the band.  The pandemic really took its toll not only locally, but across the nation and we’re all still struggling in some way to recover. One of the biggest losses with Covid19 was not being able to be together in fellowship as a community. Having Sean and Blackwater gracing our Great Lawn for this concert will give everyone a chance to support our church, experience some incredible music, and find a little joy again.”

There is a suggested donation of $15 per person at the gate and people are advised to bring a chair or blanket for first-come-first serve area seating on WPC’s Great Lawn. There’s also plenty of on-site parking at the church, located at 94 Tindal Road in Middletown.  For additional information and concert updates check out the WPC Facebook Page at  Or call the church office at 732-671-2585.
