ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Calling all New Jersey Tattoo Artists. Get ready to stand up, have an educated voice and represent tattooing June 13 2020 5PM TO 7 PM with a tentative “All New Jersey Educational Tattoo Protest” if the state does NOT give us all a date to reopen.

Listen up, New Jersey Tattoo artists and studios! We are being ignored by the State Of New Jersey and now it’s time to protest peacefully to give tattooing the educated voice it deserves. The Governor of New Jersey must allow New Jersey tattoo studios to open on or by June 22 2020!

As Tattoo Artists we pride ourselves in our profession and take tattooing very seriously as not only our daily careers but also our lifestyles as tattooing provides us all with a way to feed our families, take care of ourselves, keep a roof over our heads and other essential life situations that tattooing provides for us on a daily basis. Currently it seems that the state of New Jersey considers tattooing within a different category as many other similar businesses now, yet tattooing has always been considered and licensed extremely similar to Salons and Barber shops and other businesses. Currently there is no mention of an exact reopening date for tattooing, with tattooing NOT being mentioned by the governor as a business that can re-open along with similar businesses like salons and barbershops on June 22,2020.

“We use state of the art PPE and are positioned more distant from the customer than most stylists and barbers while delivering services. We are licensed in much the same way as salons and barber shops. We should be discussed alongside these businesses. Our opening date should be announced and set,” said protest organizer and tattoo artists & studio owners Tony Rodriguez,Paul Davis,Graig Berkowitz

We are organizing a friendly and educational tattoo protest if the State Of New Jersey does NOT allow Tattoo Studios to reopen on June 13,2020 when salons and barber shops will be allowed to open here in New Jersey. If the Governor does not address New Jersey tattoo studios opening on or by JUNE 22 2020 we are asking all Tattoo Artists and tattoo studio owners to come together to peacefully protest outside of their respective Tattoo Studios JUNE 13,2020. We protest the fact that tattoo studios are not being allowed to reopen by the state of New Jersey and also we educate the general public that tattooing is very safe and always has been due to our extensive annual training with Bloodborne Pathogens, cross contamination prevention, first aid, and much more!

We are asking studios to peacefully protest and to use some of the pre-approved messages on display signs to convey the same message we all want to collectively make as the tattoo industry as a whole. While protesting, all Tattoo Artists and tattoo studio owners should be wearing gloves, face masks, face shields if possible, disposable sleeve covers to properly display the new procedure attire of the modern Tattoo Artist during this pandemic. Also, be sure to stand at a 6’ social distance while protesting to make sure everyone is safe while protesting!

Please contact your local news and media stations and share this release (or a similar one) to get as much coverage as possible during the protest or to bring attention for a later article.

Be sure to take photos of your protest to document your efforts for this All New Jersey Tattoo Protest”!
