MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at approximately 12:25p.m., Ptl. Daniel Flannigan was in the area of Ocean Avenue and Port Monmouth Road when he was flagged down by the victim of an armed robbery. The victim, a 17 year old male, reported that he was robbed and assaulted by a person armed with a knife. The victim was not stabbed but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries as a result of a physical assault. Victim reported that he had money and earphones stolen during the robbery.
Responding officers investigated the report and subsequently arrested two subjects, Ayonna Williams, 19, of Aberdeen and a 16 year-old juvenile male of Middletown. Williams was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, conspiracy, and employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. The juvenile was charged with robbery, conspiracy, and hindering the apprehension of another. Both subjects are currently in custody awaiting detention. Police were able to recover the victim’s stolen property.
