police cruisersMIDDLETOWN, NJ – Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at approximately 12:25p.m., Ptl. Daniel Flannigan was in the area of Ocean Avenue and Port Monmouth Road when he was flagged down by the victim of an armed robbery.  The victim, a 17 year old male, reported that he was robbed and assaulted by a person armed with a knife.   The victim was not stabbed but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries as a result of a physical assault.  Victim reported that he had money and earphones stolen during the robbery.

Responding officers investigated the report and subsequently arrested two subjects,  Ayonna Williams, 19, of Aberdeen and a 16 year-old juvenile male of Middletown.  Williams was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, conspiracy, and employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime.  The juvenile was charged with robbery, conspiracy, and hindering the apprehension of another.  Both subjects are currently in custody awaiting detention.  Police were able to recover the victim’s stolen property.

Any persons arrested or charged with offenses are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  Additionally, except in specific circumstances, arrest and complaint information and names of those charged may be released.
