No doubt I am a sucker for a special holiday romantic comedy like “Love Actually”, but they are really hard to make.
I was semi optimistic as the 2 lead characters Emilia Clarke & Henry Gooding) seemed extremely likable and mix that with the music of George Michael/WHAM, and I thought we might have something.
The title could be interpreted a couple of different ways so I had no preconceived notion of the story line and didn’t speculate. Engaging characters, working in a Christmas store, affiliation with a soup kitchen & I was very hopeful. Alas the story line was a little thin and sporadically romantic.
Emily Clark is extremely likable and generally happy to also seems to operate with a black cloud over her head as a young person trying to find herself. She meets the mysterious and most charming Tom and we think we have the right movie recipe as she starts to right her ship.

Bummer that the movie is nice yet also forgettable. I’m sure will do okay in the box office but not much word of month bounce.
