police cruisersATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Officers of the Atlantic Highlands Police Department arrested Mohammed Sam, 31 of Wheatley, New York for strong armed robbery, simple assault, possession of a weapon and hindering his own apprehension in connection with the robbery of a patron at the TNC Mini-Mart, located at 80 First Avenue at 6:58 AM on May 24, 2019.

“We were able to locate the suspect and make an arrest within minutes after the suspect fled on foot thanks to our officers’ diligent response and an alert Harbor Security Officer who reported observing the suspect in the Municipal Harbor,” said Chief David Rossbach. “We are thankful that nobody was injured during the course of the incident”.

During the investigation of the strong armed robbery it was determined that Mohammed Sam was allegedly the suspect that was wanted by Holmdel Police in connection with eluding the police and possession of a stolen vehicle that had occurred at 3:00 AM on May 24, 2019.

Holmdel Police attempted to stop the suspect who refused to pull over and led police into Middletown Township and Atlantic Highlands before stopping on Highway #36 in Highlands and fleeing on foot.

Atlantic Highlands officers assisted with the search for the suspect along with officers from Holmdel, Middletown, and Highlands, but were unable to locate him at that time.

Mohammed Sam was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
