mcpo shield 120FREEHOLD, NJ – Please be advised that on Friday March 29, 2019, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Long Branch Police Department received multiple calls of a structure fire at 135 Charles St.

Heavy fire activity was noted at the time of arrival. One resident was located inside, the victim, Thomas Booth III, 67, who was removed from the residence by Long Branch PD. CPR was initiated by on scene and Booth was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The victim was pronounced at 3:15 a.m. A post-mortem exam is scheduled for later today.

Fire suppression efforts were conducted by the Long Branch Fire Department with assistance from Neptune Fire Department. The fire was deemed under control at 2:34 a.m.

Long Branch, Elberon and Monmouth Beach First Aid Squads all responded to assist. No further injuries were reported.
