PASADENA – Herbert Hollis Dean, 83, passed away February 9, 2019 in Maryland.

Herb was the son of the late Bessie and Cranston Dean, and reared through the 1940’s and 50’s in Lincolnville, Maine. Herb graduated from Camden High School and attended the University of Maine before transferring to the University of Vermont and earning a BS degree in Dairy Science. He served in Army Intelligence during the early years of the Vietnam War, working in the Washington D.C. area.

He married Frances Joyce May Wyatt in 1961 and settled in Pasadena, Maryland with her son, David, whom Herb adopted. The couple had a son, Michael who died in early childhood.

Herb was involved in his community and an active adult leader in the Junior Achievement business training organization.

He retired, after decades as a dairy scientist, from Greenspring Dairy in Maryland.

A Mass was held at St. John Catholic Church, in Severna Park, Maryland on February 14th and Herb was buried that day in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, Maryland.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Frances, Pasadena, Maryland; a son David and his wife Sue, and grandchildren, Brian and Summer, Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, James C. Dean, Coventry, Connecticut; and a sister, Mary Caliro, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
