Middletown – On February 15, 2019 at approximately 4:28pm, Middletown Twp. Police received reports of an altercation at McMahon Park. The first caller indicated two adult males were involved in a fight. A second caller reported that the fight involved juveniles. A third caller advised that the incident involved a stabbing and all parties had left the scene. Responding officers arrived on location approximately four minutes later and confirmed that the fight involved a stabbing and one of the victims had left the scene prior to the arrival of police. A second victim, who sustained minor injuries, was located on scene, provided medical attention for his injuries, and refused transport. Information was obtained regarding the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.
The stabbing victim was located by police and was provided medical attention. The stabbing victim was ultimately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of a non-life threatening stab wound to the torso. Neither of the victims is being identified by police.
Within minutes of the initial call, the suspect and the suspect vehicle were located a short distance away by Ptl. Ryan Maguire. The suspect, identified as Brennan C. Bland, 27, of Middletown, was placed under arrest. Bland was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and terroristic threats. Bland was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. Adam Colfer at (732) 615-2120.
