ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ – Jeff McDaniel was sworn in as Commodore of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club at formal ceremonies at the Club at the Municipal Yacht Harbor Tuesday afternoon. He succeeds Edward Yates in the position.
Also sworn into office were vice commodore Jack Glass and rear commodore Christopher Stone, Elaine Hayden was continued as secretary for a second term and Frank Allsman as treasurer, also for a second term. Richard Warner was sworn in as corresponding secretary.
In highlighting accomplishments during the past year, Yates praised membership chair Helen Marchetti and her committee for the increase in membership. Through their efforts, Yates said the club attained more than 60 percent increase over its anticipated goal in membership for the year. Marchetti said she heads up a hardworking committee comprised of Ron Ledder, Susan Mikaitis, Ray Hillers and Elaine Hayden.
McDaniel also expressed the importance the membership committee and continued increased membership as a goal for 2019 as well, together with an expanded use of the club’s dining room. The new Commodore called on all members to sign up for more and varied volunteer activities, reminding them it is a volunteer organization.
There are more than 250 members in the club which is approximately 65 years old.
