Creating premium chocolate is an art that requires great skill, passion & dedication. Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe opened in 1998 and is currently celebrating 20 years in business. Since opening, this mecca of sinfully-sweet chocolate has thrived under the steady and energetic leadership of husband and wife team, Suzi and Stan Hordych, the founding generation. The ‘dynamic duo of chocolate’ have developed and refined their unique, hand-dipped chocolates and candy with absolute devotion and manage day-to-day operations. The store now offers over 100 different products, including a gift basket design department, and has 5 employees, including Suzi. “Stan and I are thrilled, along with other family and team members, about this tremendous and prestigious honor,” stated Suzi Hordych. “Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe was built on the love of family combined with the love of chocolate, and I am blessed to be able to do what I love the most everyday….opening the store and making chocolate,” added Susan.
The number of family members involved in the business totals 13, spanning 3 generations including children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews, a key criterion for the New Jersey Family Business of the Year Award. The youngest involved family member is grandson, Evan, 16. Family members at Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe help with everything including dipping chocolate, creating attractive window displays, packing & shipping the candy, stocking the shelves, greeting customers, providing one-on-one assistance, and most of all, making Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe a happy & sweet place!
