FREEHOLD – Officials are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male victim involved in a motor vehicle collision on US Highway 9 in Marlboro Wednesday evening, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Marlboro Police responded on July 11, 2018, at 10:15 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck on US Highway 9 in the vicinity of signalized U-turn north of Covered Bridge Road. A 2001 Dodge Intrepid, traveling southbound in the right lane, struck an unidentified male who was travelling on foot in the area of the signalized turn. The victim struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, causing him to be projected up over the vehicle, striking the hood and windshield before coming to a final stop in the right lane of US Highway 9 on the southbound side, just south of the intersection. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 10:44 p.m.
Alisa Berkman, 56, of Manalapan, the operator of the 2001 Dodge Intrepid, was not injured.
Police are continuing with efforts to identify the deceased pedestrian.
