Friday evening event celebrates community and the visual arts.
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J. — FilmOneFest organizers invite all to attend their annual Launch Party, in celebration of the next day’s FilmOneFest. The Launch Party will be held at the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council’s beautiful gallery space at 54 First Avenue on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Guests are welcome to mingle with friends, filmmakers, judges, artists, community leaders, and supporters, and enjoy drinks and refreshments. Several award-winning short films will be screened, and Tom Bernard of Sony Pictures Classics will be honored as well.
At this fun event, guests will also enjoy the gallery’s current exhibit ‘Dreams and Decay,’ a fascinating collection of photographs by photographers Gina Cioffi, Kay Kenny, Greg Letson, Ellen Martin, and Charlann Meluso. Here, their work “explores spaces that exist in various states of isolation, from deteriorating landscapes to locations with a sense of sacred urgency.” The opening reception for this exhibit is on Saturday, July 14th at 6:00 pm at the gallery.
Tickets to Friday’s Launch Party – FilmOneFest’s important final fundraiser – are $35 and include beer, wine and delicious hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Et Al of Highlands. Tickets are limited and can be purchased online at www.filmonefest.org. Donations of canned goods for area food pantries are encouraged.
FilmOneFest will take place the next day, Saturday, July 21st. This free, family-friendly festival screens more than 40 of the ‘best of the best’ short films from over 300 entries from 46 countries. It is a perfect summer evening held under the stars on the great lawn of the Atlantic Highlands Marina, from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm, and also includes family entertainment, live music, and arts and food vendors. The main stage will feature the artists’ performances starting at 5:45 pm. At 9 pm, the main screening begins, on a giant, state-of-the-art digital screen. Judges will choose award winners, and there will be real-time voting for the Audience Choice award.
