mtfd marine rescue unit31 2MIDDLETOWN, NJ – At 5:50pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to an overturned kayak near Ideal Beach in the East Keansburg section of Middletown.   The situation was reported via 911 to the Monmouth County Radio Room.  The Brevent Park & Leonardo Fire Company Marine Unit 31-2 upon arrival at 6:10p.m. found two subjects in the water holding onto the kayak. They were rescued and taken aboard Marine Unit 31-2 and transported to the Port Monmouth Cove Marina. No EMS was required.  The subjects were turned over to Middletown Police Department.

All units were cleared from the scene by 6:40pm.

Approximately 7 members responded to the call from the Brevent Park & Leonardo Fire Company.  The United States Coast Guard, East Keansburg Fire Company and Leonardo First Aid responded to provide assistance to Middletown during operations. Thanks to the Monmouth County Radio Room for their efficient support in the rescue operations.

All units operated safely under the supervision of Fire Department Second Assistant Chief John Friedman.
