police cruisersHOLMDEL, NJ – On 5/8/18 Holmdel Police Officers responded to a report of a multi-car crash with injuries on Laurel Avenue in the area of the NJ Transit railroad overpass.  Investigation at the scene revealed Daniel Magistro, age 36 of Union Beach NJ, was driving northbound on Laurel Avenue. He crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a mini-van that was being used as a student transportation vehicle, then collided with a sedan.  One student was onboard the van and was not injured. Magistro continued northbound in the southbound lane, colliding with two more vehicles. 

The driver of the school van, and the driver and passenger in another vehicle, were all transported to Bayshore Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Four of the five vehicles involved sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene. Additionally, Laurel Avenue was closed in both directions for approximately one hour due to the investigation and cleanup.  Laurel Avenue has been reopened.

Holmdel PD was assisted by Middletown PD, Holmdel First Aid Squad, Middletown Township EMS and MONOC Paramedics.  Magistro was issued summonses for Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.  Any witnesses are asked to contact Ptl. James Corrigan or Sgt. Vincent Imperato at 732-946-4400.
