march for our lives

march for our livesNewark, NJ — Governor Phil Murphy, Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. and State Senator Teresa Ruiz are joining a diverse group of New Jersey students, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, NJ (Bergen & Essex County Chapters) and Women for Progress as they host a statewide March in Newark on March 24, 2018 in solidarity with the national March for Our Lives effort in Washington D.C. Women’s March on NJ organizer Elizabeth Meyer is spearheading the student involvement, making this march a truly collaborative effort between students and grassroots organizers.

The march begins at 10:00am in Military Park, rain or shine, and will wrap up close to 12:00pm. Student activists will run the program and lead the march.

“On March 24th we march for Newark, Parkland, Las Vegas and all of the innumerable localities which have suffered the burdens of irresponsible gun legislation and all of its consequences,” says one of the march’s student leaders, Kira Edgar.

“Newark is in the heart of the youth in this community. Guns have no place in our safe haven,” says Newark student Princess Sabaroche.
