ah first presbyterian 20180203ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — The First Presbyterian Church will mark the third Sunday of Lent with the Rev. Kathy Genus of Toms River offering a message entitled “Be Watchful.”

All area residents are invited to attend Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service at the 127-year-old church at Third and East Highlands Aves.

This week Reverend Genus we will focus on Tuesday of Holy Week.

“It is a very long day for Jesus as he escalates the conflict with the scribes and priests at the Temple. Jesus warns to be watchful of the powerful who will take the last coins of a widow and warns the disciples not to be impressed with the fleeting success of this world. It is easy for any of us to get caught up in the throws of a well-executed plan of oppression,” according to Genus.

“As we study our text this week, we are being warned to stay awake, and pay attention!”
