“It is a very long day for Jesus as he escalates the conflict with the scribes and priests at the Temple. Jesus warns to be watchful of the powerful who will take the last coins of a widow and warns the disciples not to be impressed with the fleeting success of this world. It is easy for any of us to get caught up in the throws of a well-executed plan of oppression,” according to Genus.

“As we study our text this week, we are being warned to stay awake, and pay attention!”

Organist David Nunez will provide the music.

Genus is a graduate both Thomas A. Edison College and New Brunswick Theological Seminary and is a certified Christian educator in the Presbyterian Church USA.

She is the former pastor of the Osceola Presbyterian Church in Clark.

On Good Friday, the church will participate in a Stations of the Cross program from noon to 3 p.m. at various local churches.
