westminster presb churchMIDDLETOWN, NJ – Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) in Middletown will mark the 2018 Lenten Season and Holy Week by offering a six-week long series of special programs and events and worship opportunities, including a new Saturday evening contemporary music and prayer gathering and its popular Crossroads Café Christian Music Coffee House on March 16th.

For adults looking to explore and learn more about Christianity, Westminster has created two opportunities in Lent – Sunday afternoons at 3 pm and Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm to attend special programs that will help them gain insight and knowledge about Christianity’s important doctrines and help enrich their spiritual life. The Sunday in Lent Sermon Series Heaven will feature powerful video and audio sermons from three great preachers of our time: The Reverends Tim Keller, Alistair Begg and Billy Graham. They start at 3 pm and will be followed by discussions and light. refreshments. The Wednesday Night Live Lent Series will run Wednesdays during Lent and focus on The Way, Following in the Footsteps of Jesus. The program starts at 7 pm with a simple soup supper and a short 10- minute video presentation shot on location in Israel “following in the footsteps” of Jesus and wraps up with a brief Bible study and discussions.

WPC also has a full schedule of special activities and services throughout Holy Week that include a traditional Seder meal on Wednesday March 28th at the Harlan Hall Community Center, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services, and group outings and field trips.

According to WPC’s Pastor, the Reverend Joseph Hein, “The Lenten season is a time to take stock of our lives and pushes us to move beyond daily routines to reconnect with God and lead us to a better understanding about who we are, where we come from and what path we must take in life.  We wanted to open our hearts and our church to anyone who’d like to celebrate Lent and Holy Week, whether it’s at one of the Lent lectures, our monthly candlelight  Taize Service, or the Crossroads Coffeehouse in March.”
