HIGHLANDS, NJ – The Highlands Community Singers are seeking volunteers to join its 24-year-old chorus for the upcoming summer season.

The group performs six to 8 times during the season, mostly during the day although one Sunday evening show will be scheduled at the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Yacht Harbor Gazebo as part of that borough’s summer concert series. It also sings at the annual Highlands Clam Fest.

The chorus primarily performs for senior citizens groups and at nursing homes and senior day care facilities throughout the eastern Bayshore area. It sings mostly oldies and no auditions are required.

Rehearsals are due to begin in April or May.

The group was founded by the late Art Freilinghaus and has been directed by Louise I. Donoghue of Atlantic Highlands for several years. Its accompanist is Erik Vagen of West Keansburg.
