WARREN, NJ – The Monmouth County Planning Board was recently honored by the New Jersey Planning Officials (NJPO) at their B. Budd Chavooshian Memorial Conference & Awards Banquet ceremony with a 2017 Achievement in Planning Award for the 2016 Monmouth County Master Plan.

“The countywide Master Plan focuses on redevelopment, revitalization and rediscovery of communities throughout the County,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Planning Board. “The master planning process recognized that each municipality has its own individual character and identity and relied on the use of emerging technologies as well as traditional methods of input from citizens and stakeholders.”
The County’s Master Plan reinforces a public policy investment strategy throughout the County, provides complimentary elements identified in the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) for assistance in development of municipal master plans and includes documents adopted by reference and incorporated into the Master Plan.

“The Monmouth County Planning Board worked tirelessly with professionals, experts and members of the community to create a comprehensive Master Plan,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso, Esq., a freeholder representative on the County’s Planning Board. “To be recognized by the NJPO is a well-deserved accomplishment and a testament to the strength of the work that was produced.”

All information, along with updates, is available on the dedicated Monmouth County Master Plan website.

Every year NJPO honors Achievements in Planning that are projects, large and small, that reflect good sense in planning; dedicated individuals, whose efforts through planning benefit their community’s quality of life; agencies on every level of government generating model approaches to planning; and organizations and initiatives promoting the ideals of sound planning.

According to the NJPO, they are neither a State agency, nor a professional organization. It was formed by and is still led by the citizen planners, volunteer local residents appointed by mayors and/or municipal governing bodies to serve on planning boards and zoning boards of adjustment.
