LONG BRANCH, NJ—Long Branch Concordance Family Success Center is changing to Coastal Communities Family Success Center as of August 1, 2017.  For over 13 years the Family Success Center has been an indispensable part of the community by extending its outreach to families and providers in several counties throughout the New Jersey Coastal region.

Coastal Communities will grow the mission of creating a culture of community wellness and strengthening families through education, activities, and outreach. “This change is a reflection of our growth and the larger community we now serve,” stated Mark Gallup, board member of Coastal Communities.

Coastal Communities is located at 300 Broadway in Long Branch, NJ behind the historic St. James’ Church. Upon entering the Center you’re greeted by smiling faces in the warm, homelike setting. The décor and open nature of the Center promotes a welcoming environment, where families feel relaxed and at home.

There’s an exciting and diverse culture that is apparent within the Family Success Center. “Families frequent the Center from all walks of life, cultures, ethnicities, socio-economic statuses, and so on,” stated Lisa Wilson, Executive Director of the Center. “The diversity of our families composes the culture of the community we’ve created at the Center. When we share and engage with others through an array of services offered at the Center, we grow. We grow in understanding of each other, in appreciation of our differences, and recognize more readily the similarities of who we are as neighbors.”

The Center develops its programs and workshops based on open communication from the Center’s Parent Community Advisory Board and participating families, whether they attend multiple workshops and activities during the week or stop in to use the Center’s “home office” once in a while. “It’s important to converse with members of the community, as everyone’s insights and experiences are different,” expressed Jahmoia Rice-Norflett, Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator. “Conversations are more than just the expression of words people share their lives through them. This sharing is essential because we develop programs and curriculum that are inspired from these stories. It’s crucial for the Center to be mindful with intentions that best represent the community that surrounds us.”

Coastal Communities Family Success Center offers educational programs such as English and Spanish as a second language, financial and budget classes, health and wellness workshops conducted through partnerships with community organizations, and creative fun experiences for children. At least once a week a wellness activity is hosted for the community; there’s Yoga, Zumba, and Shred Camp! Keep connected with what’s happening at the Center via their website (www.coastalcommunitiesfsc.org), Facebook (CoastalCommunitesFSC), and on Instagram (@Coastal_Communities).

The Center will be hosting a Bowling Fundraiser on August 31st from 5—8 pm at Shore Lanes in Neptune, NJ. The community is invited to come out in support of a great cause! For a donation of $100 you will have a lane for 5—6 people, bowling shoes, and refreshments. Sponsor a lane for $200 and in addition receive 10 raffle tickets and published recognition.
