ah first presbyterian churchATLANTIC HIGHLANDS — The Rev. Barbara Hicks will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Aug. 6 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Hicks’s sermon is entitled “The Heavenly Caterer” and its theme is the feeding of the 5,000. Her message will be based on Genesis 32:22-31 and Matthew 14:13-21.

She has been in the ministry for 32 years, serving congregations in Ewing Township, Atlanta, Stone Mountain (Georgia), Toms River and Lakewood, where she is pastor emeritus of Hope Presbyterian Church, having served there as pastor for 17 1/2 years before her retirement in 2016.

Hicks, who lives in Toms River, was raised in suburban Philadelphia, received her bachelors degree from Temple and her masters in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.

She is also scheduled to preach on Aug. 13 at the  127-year-old Atlantic Highlands Presbyterian church at Third and East Highland avenues.

The Rev. John Milne, who lives in Plainsboro, will be the guest speaker on Sunday, Aug. 20. He is pastor emeritus of the Yardville United Presbyterian Church.

He has been a member of the Monmouth Presbytery for 17 years and serves on its Board of Trustees.
