RED BANK, NJ – This August, New Jersey artists Gary Paul and Elaine Shor will have an exhibition of their work that will remain with viewers after they have left. Both will show vibrant pieces, in realistic styles, that make you think.
Shor is exhibiting her “Hidden Influence” series, consisting of oil paintings with strong subject to background contrast. Here figures are women, dressed femininely, and each is standing against machines or metal. In other words, in traditional male environments. She is showing the viewer women’s “dual natures” of “tenderness and strength”.
Paul will show work in two styles of painting. One has the clarity of a photograph, but he has deliberately given it a “twist”, something to think on. “Bombing for Peace” shows a Vietnam era bomber contrastingly painted as a peace-loving hippie might paint a van. In Paul’s second style, he lays down smaller abstract shapes, to create large photo-realistic images of i.e. tumbling water or a ball of fire. Viewers will be amazed and delighted at what they might find up close. One work features Japanese characters! Paul coined this style “Impressivism”.
Paul and Shor have exhibited in the NJ-NY area and are accomplished artists with professional honing of their artistic skills. Shor received an award from Adrienne Rooney, Curatorial Assistant, Whitney Museum of American Art, at the “Twenty-Ninth Annual Juried Exhibition”, Art Alliance, 2015. Paul created a website in 2001 to promote Impressivism to the world.
